Solo Costumes and Black-Out
For U10 and older teams, tights are required. Tights must be of a denier of no less than 70 percent. In the past we have worn H&M tights that are of 200 denier for girls wearing adult sizes. For those in children’s sizes, we would have them wear Capezio tights, but they would two pairs at once to get the right thickness.
Mary Devlin of Devlin Dance Shoes usually carries the Capezio for children. She also has the right kind of tights from a supplier (dance company) called Weismann’s—this brand only requires children to wear one pair. She has children and adult sizes of the Weismann’s. I assume the black color of these tights will be the same as Capezio and H&M.
If you want to purchase online, here's a few possibilities, or look on Amazon. They just need to be thick/opaque enough (or kids can wear two pairs)—just can’t have them be sheer.

Shoe Taping Tutorials
Dancers can purchase new hard shoes and soft shoes from Mary Devlin at Fay's
(www.devlindanceshoes.biz/) or the vendor of their choice. There is an extensive gently used shoe collection (link) for sale at the studio. Watch for shoe sale times, or for an appointment, please contact Michele Ward or Kristen Hall.
There are many factors when it comes to deciding what hair style is best for your dancer. Age, dancer level, dress style, dancing style, skin tone and height are just a few. Therefore, you MUST CHECK WITH ANNE before deciding on or purchasing a wig or hair piece. Often, around majors, there will be a wig training to learn how to properly put on the wig so it looks its best and is very secure. If at any time you need help with the wig or hair piece, feel free to reach out to any of the Murray moms of older dancers. We are there to help!

Make-up is for dancers who are age Under 11 and up, and for any dancer who is younger than U11 but is on an U12 team.
Here is a video of a training session we had with Irish Dance makeup artist Danielle Fegan during Covid. The training actually begins at 4:20--the first few minutes there were technical difficulties!
